Providing Patients with Cost Information

Videos — September 29, 2015

The job of an oncologist is changing. While we can’t expect oncologists to be economists, it is important that oncologists recognize that cost is an important consideration for their patients, and as such, they need to be sensitive to cost issues.

We don’t expect that a physician would know the price of every new drug that comes on the market, but we would expect that their offices would be set up so that patients can get their questions answered, not just about which drugs work best for patients like them, but also what the cost is to the insurer, as well as the cost to the patient, for getting these life?saving and life?improving drugs.
